The Rev. Jason Schiller

The Rev. Jason Schiller is a Minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church USA and began serving as pastor of Philo Presbyterian Church on August 15, 2015. A graduate of Trinity International University and The University of Dubuque Theological Seminary, Pastor Jason previously completed a Clinical Pastoral Education Residency in Bloomington, serving as the staff chaplain for the Intensive Care Unit and Addiction Recovery Unit and completed a research project titled Providing Spiritual Care in Organ Donation Cases. Through his chaplain work, Pastor Jason has developed a passion for educating people about end-of-life planning and helping people navigate the ethical questions that arise in healthcare.

Pastor Jason has a passion for shepherding congregations through change and revitalization. As the community changes, so must the mission and ministry of the Church change and adapt to the needs present. This can be especially difficult for congregations that have lost a sense of belonging in the community. Through prayer, worship, discernment, and trust in God's presence, congregations can grow in faith and deepen in the relationships formed in the community.

A member of the Presbytery of Southeastern Illinois, Pastor Jason serves on the Commission on Ministry, the Emergency Response Team, and as liaison to the Board of Pensions.

Pastor Jason is married to Erin, an Associate Director in the International Student and Scholar Services office at the University of Illinois and has two children, Elsa, a fun, intelligent third grader, and Abram, a silly, energizer bunny 22 month old. In his spare time he loves to cook for family and friends, collects coins, and loves art and photography.
